Common questions
- Does SwipeStack delete anything by itself?
- No. Swiping left only marks a photo. Nothing is deleted until you confirm in the window iOS shows, and deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
- Does it upload my photos?
- No. SwipeStack works on your iPhone and has no servers. Copies only go where you send them: a USB drive you plug in, or the uLock app on the same phone. See the privacy policy.
- What does the Archive do, and what does it cost?
- Swiping up stages a photo in the Archive. From there you can back it up to a USB drive or send it to uLock, and then delete the original once the copy has been checked. Reviewing and swiping are always free; the Archive is a one-time purchase.
- My USB drive says it can’t be written to.
- Drives formatted for Windows (NTFS) can be read on an iPhone but not written to. Drives formatted APFS or exFAT work. On a Mac, Disk Utility can reformat a drive, which erases it, so copy anything you need off it first.
- Some photos were left out of a backup.
- The message says why. Photos stored only in iCloud are downloaded in full before they are copied, which needs a connection; if a download fails the photo stays in your Archive and you can try again. Files larger than 4 GB can’t be stored on drives formatted FAT32 and are skipped.
- Why does the Delete button say “Delete 5”?
- Those are the photos in your Archive that already have a checked copy on your drive or in uLock. It deletes only those, after iOS asks you to confirm.
- I bought the Archive on another device, or reinstalled the app.
- Open the Archive, tap Back Up, and choose Restore Purchase on the unlock screen. It is also in Settings under Archive.
- The daily reminder is annoying or not showing.
- Both reminders can be turned off in SwipeStack’s Settings. If you never see them, check that notifications are allowed for SwipeStack in iOS Settings.
- How do I remove everything SwipeStack stored?
- Delete the app. Its data lives only on your iPhone. Copies you made on a drive or in uLock stay where you put them.
- Can I try the beta?
- Yes. Join the beta on TestFlight (you need Apple’s free TestFlight app, and iOS 26 or later). The Archive purchase in the beta is a test purchase, so you are not charged.
